Paul’s Third “Therefore” -No Condemnation to No Separation

Attached below is the sermon I recently preached for Grace Line Church in Homa Bay, Kenya, when I had the privilege (via Zoom) of opening the Word of God alongside Pastor Kennedy and his congregation. For your benefit (and for the benefit of pastors, teachers, and believers more broadly) I have reduced my sermon on Romans 8 to written form, that it might be read with profit where it was first heard with attention.
Romans 8 presents Paul’s third great “therefore”: a chapter of consequence, not mere curiosity. Doctrine is pressed into duty. Having set forth the gospel, the Apostle now urges its unavoidable implication: we are not only justified in Christ; we are called to live by the Spirit of Christ. The Christian life is not sustained by the energies of the flesh, but by the indwelling power of God, who makes obedience both possible and necessary.
I encourage you to read Romans 8 slowly and prayerfully, and then to work through this sermon with Bible open and heart attentive. As with all resources on StudioScriptura.com, this sermon is offered freely. Our only request is that it be used solely for the glory of God.
